Pair of Annonay mirrors

Set of two small wall mirrors, rectangular portrait format. Border frame covered with the Annonay pattern = black speckled paper (ink stain style), on a colored background; here one yellow & one green. Good condition, some wear from use (see photos) Around 1820, the Canson paper mill invented a new decorative technique for so-called "faux-marbrés" papers = projecting the color directly onto a sheet with a brush; the "Annonay" pattern is still used today on artists' drawing boards.
