Cini Boeri for Arflex, modular Strips sofa in mustard/golden velvet, Italy 1968. The iconic Strips sofa is a comfortable and versatile design. This modular sofa features four seating elements, including a larger loveseat, allowing for endless configurations to suit any space. It has been reupholstered in high-quality mustard/golden cotton velvet, giving the sofa an eclectic yet luxurious ambience. The playful, geometric lines of the elements are reminiscent of the visual appeal of a 'Tetris' game, adding a dynamic and contemporary flair. Each element rests on low-profile legs, making them appear to float. As one of Arflex’s most celebrated designs, the Strips sofa was honoured with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, cementing its status as a design classic. Cini Boeri (1924-2020) was one of the first post-war female designers to achieve a prominent role in postmodern furniture design and architecture. She graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1951 and later established her own studio. Throughout her career, Boeri designed numerous items for major brands, with modular sofa systems being a characteristic element of her work. In 2011, she received the Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement award. Designer: Cini Boeri. Manufacturer: Arflex. Period: 1970s. Dimensions Per Element: Loveseat Element: W125 X D90 X H60cm.
