Vase lamp made of ceramic by Übelacker Keramik – West German Pottery from the 1960s/70s. This table lamp is based on a ceramic vase from the manufacturer Übelacker, a producer associated with West German Pottery, known in the second half of the 20th century for its decorative studio ceramics featuring plastic relief designs. The vase displays a distinctive, vertically arranged plant motif that is deeply worked into the surface. The vibrant orange glaze accentuates the relief and gives the object a striking presence. The shape of the vase is clear and slightly conical. Typical of many ceramics from this period, it combines a simple basic form with a highly structured surface. Total height of the lamp: approx. 52 cm. Height of the vase without the fitting: approx. 27 cm. The vase has been carefully converted into a lamp – through a securely anchored but removable plug-in solution. The lamp base is stabilised for a secure stand. The vase opening has been sealed with a high-quality decorative cap made of brass. The collector's value of the vase remains fully intact. E27 fitting made of black Bakelite with a transparent cable, switch, and plug. The cable is routed directly into the fitting from the back. This way, no holes had to be drilled into the vase. The lampshade is built on a 25 cm high frame and is covered with an elastic multicolour thread – very fitting for the vase. It is 22 cm wide at the bottom and 20 cm at the top. The vertically arranged threads create a lively play of light when switched on, casting coloured light stripes on the wall and surroundings. The warm reds, oranges, and greens reflect the colours of the vase and enhance the three-dimensional effect of the ceramic relief. This results in a very characteristic, atmospheric lighting. This lamp combines expressive West German ceramics with an unusual, handcrafted lampshade. A unique piece with a distinct Mid-Century character.
