Description
A tray enamel decoration biomorphic, attributed to Jan Roede. Measures: Length: 9.3 in. (49 cm), width: 7.0 in. (18 cm). height 1.4 inches (3.5 cm). Jan Roede (1914-2007) was a well known Dutch artist of the middle of the century. During the 1950s and 1960s, he developed a personal style which was influenced by the Cobra movement and biomorphism of Joan Miró. Although Roede was mainly active as a painter, he also sometimes designed decorative objects, mainly by email. This particular dish is signed with the letters ANMB on the underside, which suggests that it was commissioned by the Dutch Metalworkers federation, perhaps as a business gift. Although the official documentation linking this beautiful piece to Roede has not yet been discovered, it is "signed all over". This allocation is also confirmed by the Foundation Jan Roede.
