Warren Platner, the steel lace armchair

Warren Platner (1919-2006) made steel wire a noble material. An American designer who worked with Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he designed in 1966 for Knoll a furniture collection with no equivalent: the Platner chair and armchair, where more than a thousand gold-plated steel rods welded one by one form inverted tulip silhouettes. Technical virtuosity in service of revisited Régence elegance. The piece crosses decades without losing an ounce of desirability.

The Platner armchair and Platner chair Knoll, in gold-plated or nickel-plated steel, remain Warren Platner's most iconic pieces. A signature to find for those wanting to bring a precious, architectural sparkle into a modern or classical interior.
