Serge Mouille, French lamp-sculptor

Serge Mouille (1922-1988) is one of the great names of 20th-century French lighting. A goldsmith trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, he designed from 1953 onwards a series of lamps and floor lamps with anthropomorphic silhouettes: articulated arms in black lacquered metal, ending in metal shells that resemble eyes, heads, tongues. His Œil, Saturne lamps, the Three-Arm Pivoting Floor Lamp and Applique à Volets were edited by Disderot then by his widow. Today, they are among the most valued pieces on the French vintage lighting market.

The Œil lamp, Three-Arm Pivoting Floor Lamp and Applique à Volets remain Serge Mouille's most iconic pieces. French vintage lighting to find for those wanting a historic signature of French lighting design, now among the most valued on the market.
