Osvaldo Borsani, designer-founder of Tecno
Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) belongs to that generation of Italian architect-designers who, after the war, founded the great Milan publishing houses. With his twin brother Fulgenzio, he created in 1953 the publisher Tecno, which became in a few years one of the references of modern Italian furniture. His flagship piece? The P40 armchair (1954), a recliner with 486 possible adjustments, a technical as well as formal feat. With the D70 chair and D90 sofa, it forms a family of seats where engineering serves posture.
The P40 armchair and D70 chair from Tecno remain Osvaldo Borsani's most iconic pieces. Italian vintage furniture to find for those wanting a historic signature of Milanese post-war design, at the crossroads of engineering and elegance.
