Artemide, the Milanese publisher of light
Artemide, founded in Milan in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, is one of the greatest lighting publishers of the 20th century. For sixty years, it has been at once publisher, manufacturer and design incubator: its lamps have been designed by Vico Magistretti (Eclisse, 1965), Richard Sapper (Tizio, 1972), Giancarlo Mattioli (Nesso, 1967), Michele De Lucchi (Tolomeo, 1987). Each has become a world classic. Artemide is not a brand, it is a monument of Italian design.
The Eclisse, Tizio, Tolomeo and Nesso lamps remain the most iconic pieces in Artemide's catalogue. Italian vintage lighting to find for those wanting a Milanese design classic, now a global standard of modern lighting.
