Jacques germain (1915-2001) is a french artist who is a student of the modern academy directed by fernand léger and amédée ozenfant; it was at this time that blaise cendrars and fernand léger advised his parents to send him to the bauhaus in 1931. He arrived in dessau in october 1931 and stayed there for two semesters. He will be the only frenchman to study at the bauhaus. He returned to paris by bicycle in july 1932. In october of the same year, he returned to germany, to frankfurt, where he attended the courses of the constructivist painter willi baumeister. With the arrival of the nazis in power, he returned to paris and worked in advertising design. In september 1936, jacques germain completed his military service, war broke out a few years later, the artist was taken prisoner and remained in captivity for three years. On his return to france, he devoted himself mainly to painting. In 1949, he made his first solo exhibition in paris. Since then, jacques germain has participated in numerous international exhibitions. Small tear of the margin on the right side.
