Antique golden mirror with shell and flower guirlande

Beautiful french antique Louis Philippe mirror with gilt wood frame. This mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a Louis Philippe mirror and is decorated with a shell crest and flower and foliage ornaments. Some parts of the frame have a bit of a red glow, where the gold leaf has worn through and the luscious undercoat of red, known as the “rouge” coating comes through. The glass is authentic to the mirror showing slight wear, appropriate for the age of the mirror and part of its charm.
