Set of two Rob Parry for Gelderland "Lotus" lounge chairs model 1611, The Netherlands 1950's

Grey metal frame has been repainted. Rosewood arm rests and springs are in good original condition. New cushions and new off-white uphosltery. One frame has some holes in the teak frame. Seat height39 cm, seat depth48 cm, seat width51 cm. With minimal use of materials, parry managed to make an elegant and spacious design. The combination of these properties and the use of metal is a perfect example of dutch mid-century modern design. In his career he designed many items. Famous are for example his lotus lounge chair and sofa, f& t dining or side chair, coffee table and parlez dining table. Together with friso kramer, martin visser, cees braakman and wim rietveld, rob parry is among the best and famous designers of the dutch midcentury.
