Important ovoid earthenware vase from the 1930s, from the sainte radegonde factory. Geometric decoration with gold and platinum and "blue of tours". Signature with an axe underneath for frédéric gustave asch (1856-1911). Height: 52 cm. Ceramist active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, asch is particularly known for its "blue of tours", a dark blue enamel close to the famous "blue of sèvres". He made blue glazed ceramic vases in his workshops in tours, which he decorated with gold, then moved to sainte radegonde in 1887. The factory will subsequently have several owners including primavera in the 1920s and will keep the signature in the shape of an axe for a long time. It closed its doors definitively in 1986.
