Set of 9 ceramic cups with leather trim by Marcello Fantoni. Italy, 1950s

Superb and rare set of 9 hand-painted cups, varnished and trimmed with red, green and black leather on the back (special order most likely). What their use was, I don't know but they could be ashtrays, empty pockets, present jewelry or assortments for aperitifs for example. Very good state of conservation with some very slight traces of time. Height: 5 cm. Width and length: 8cm. The photos showing them on a black background show the colors exactly. Price shown is for all 9.
