Charming hand screen or face decorated with a large bouquet of flowers and leaf. Napoleon III period, nineteenth century around 1860. The carved wooden handle is very worked. Very nice period piece. The hand screen or the face screen or fire screen, is an accessory to protect yourself from the ardor of fire, but also an accessory of coquetry to hide the smile and emotions of the shy girl under the second empire. Fun showcase object or complement of decoration of a napoleon III atmosphere, one of those small details that make an authentic decoration. Note here that handheld screens are also called "screen fan". Wrongly, since they do not have the same function as a fan. Indeed, it was not used to disembowel but to protect the face from the heat and fire of the chimney. The silk on the back that protects the floral decoration is flared on the bottom visible in the photos. Size: Height of 45.5 cm each. Handle height of 22 cm. Width of about 21 cm. Weight of 80 grams.
