This superb 19th century black marble clock is still functional (requires cleaning or a lighter pendulum to turn correctly and stay on time) and will be supplied with its pendulum and winding key. Japy Frères mechanism late 19th century. The black marble is engraved with arabesques and geometric patterns and inlaid with malachite. Each side presents a bronze lion's head holding a ring in its mouth. It is topped by a magnificent bronze representing a neoclassical style flutist on a bench, the scores placed on her knees. High quality bronze, signed Moreau on the bench (François-Clément Moreau, student of Mathurin Moreau) and in 5 parts: body, head, right arm, left arm, tambourine (method used for complex bronzes when lost wax would cost too much Dear). Very decorative piece, blends very well with Napoleon 3 style furniture or in contrast in a colorful ensemble thanks to its green tips. Note chips on the marble as well as the missing hinge of the front porthole (holds very well in place nonetheless) 17kg.
