Ciboure very beautiful and rare Basque sandstone vase arroka (in Basque, the rock) from the 60s Suzanne Fischer period in shades of brown, green, gray in a conical shape h 27.5 cm, d 14 cm (tbe). At the beginning of the 1960s, Suzanne Fischer developed the arroka style (the rock, in Basque). On the biscuit, we apply, with a sponge, slip (clay diluted with water). Stylized patterns of flowers and swirling leaves are then chiseled into this material when it hardens. Before firing, the piece is then immersed in a bath of either red or black oxide (diluted in water) to obtain tones ranging from blue to green (from black), or a shades of brown (from red). The arroka style "is a rare testimony to the production method of the ciboure factory, the work of the potter after turning and decoration but before glazing and firing". Signed on the bottom "Arroka Basque stoneware, unique piece, RSF Ciboure pottery" very good condition. Weight 1 kg.
