Pair of ceramic candlesticks by Marius Bessone, circa 1950/60. Background in white and black lava glaze decorated on one side with polychrome geometric figures, green, yellow, pink, blue, brown and orange enameled pastilles. In good used condition, note a small chip on a candlestick at the edge of the collar (see photos). Top: 24/25.5cm - neck diam: 10cm - base diam: 11cm - candle diam: 2.8/3cm. Marius Bessone (1929-2001) Between 1949 and 1954, he studied both industrial technique for architecture and ceramic decoration. He will open his own workshop where he will test different processes such as crystallization, reliefs on brown tone and volcanic effects with lightly colored grids. He will participate in almost all the Vallauris biennials as well as in prestigious exhibitions across France and Europe. He opened a workshop in Vallauris, with his wife Huguette, in 1954.
