Impressionist painting Oil on canvas - animated scene circa 1870, signed Emmanuel MEYER (1836-1902)

Landscape of large wild forest ideal for walks and legends. Good morning. I am offering an authentic oil on canvas in perfect condition, signed Emmanuel Meyer, an impressionist painter of Swiss origin from the 19th century. This work represents a very dense forest with two tiny characters (photo n°7) as well as other silhouettes giving free rein to the imagination favorable to walks and legends. Majestic trees populate a fallow and visibly poorly maintained forest, giving a gigantic and astonishing visual effect. This oil on canvas is similar to those of Narcisse Diaz de la Pena, Jean-Baptiste Corot or Théodore Rousseau in a style always very close to nature. This work remains museum quality. Dimensions with frame: 49 cm X 62 cm. Chassis dimensions: 40 cm X 54 cm. The canvas is sufficiently stretched thanks to the recent installation of tie rods extending 1 centimeter on all 4 sides (see photo of the back of the canvas). These tie rods are not visible on the back of the canvas because they are covered by the frame. The keyed frame is original, it was cleaned by a professional... A robust frame from the end of the 19th century was restored (glued, nailed and stapled), then a gilding covering was done. The set is ready to hang. Emmanuel Meyer was born in 1836 and died in 1902, an artist recognized by professionals, his works are rare on the art market. Family painting in perfect condition for its age. If possible, it is preferable to choose hand delivery in Bourg-la-Reine (meeting offered at the station of the same name on RER B for example, 4 km from Porte d'Orléans, Paris).
