The so-called "bellows" rooms appear after the second half of the nineteenth century the drawer chambers are always too bulky and heavy to carry, manufacturers had the ingenious idea of placing a bellows of leather or fabric between the two bodies of the room in order to reduce its size and weight. Thus, these "new generation" rooms could become folding and offer a quite remarkable aesthetic quality. Derogy is one of the big names in manufacturers for photographic instruments.
