A fabulous and amazing piece of vintage and antique furniture in a chest or trunk. The chest consists of a wonderful stained wooden carcass with metal strapping on each side, the trunk has a strap lock with keyhole. The chest has an amazing history and was crafted by the world renowned company of Hunt and Roskell that can be traced back to 1819 and to the celebrated silversmith Paul Storr, upon retirements the company became Hunt and Roskell in 1843, the company exhibited at various exhibitions around the world including the Great Exhibition held in 1851 at the Crystal Palace in London’s Hyde Park the company also gained the royal warrant of Queen Victoria. The trunk documents all this with a brass plaque reading as Hunt and Roskell, late Store and Mortimer, Goldsmith and Silversmith to the Queen and the address of 136 New Bond Street London, the lock is a super example of a Barrons lock and has the crown and VR underneath for Queen Victoria. On the chest there are various labels where the chest has been transported with one for Southern railway Brighton. Inside the trunk the trunk is paper lined with the original paper still in place. The trunk is a stunning piece of antique furniture with a wonderful look and history and can be dated between 1843-1851 and with a wonderful story to tell that would suit any home or environment. Dimensions W 18.5 Inches D 27 Inches H 21 Inches. Condition The chest is in great condition made of solid wood with metal fittings.
