Description
Walter spitzer is a figurative painter, born in 1927 in poland. Survivor of the warsaw ghetto and the death camps of buchenwald and auschwitz. He escaped in 1945 to paris where he enrolled at the école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. In february 1951: due to the fire in his apartment, all his work was destroyed. 1957: he won the grand prix for young painters at the nationale des beaux-arts, and had his first personal exhibition at the monique de groote gallery. 1994: inauguration in the presence of president françois mitterrand of the vel d'hiv roundup memorial. Numerous prizes, orders, distinctions. Displays in very good condition some traces of time.
