Description
Service of 7 old oyster or shellfish plates. All stamped hof for gérard hofman, ceramist in vallauris, france 1950s. They are superb in their glazed brown/taupe shade. 6 shell compartments + 1 central compartment for lemon. In mint condition with no chips or cracks with excellent detail in the glaze. Beautiful, simple and authentic tableware for enjoying oysters with friends. All that's missing is the bread spread with good salted butter without forgetting the small glass of white wine to accompany it all🥂✨ size 24 cm. Please note: gérard hofmann (1917 - 1965) began a career as a painter before turning to ceramics. He first worked for fernand leger in biot, before becoming a decorator in the cérenne ceramic workshop at charles henri neveu (crn). A specialist in manganese red, gérard hofman has produced pieces of remarkable quality. He opened his own workshop with his wife in vallauris.
