Planters of this type are elegant pieces that reflect the style and aesthetics of their time. Used to decorate luxurious interiors. They highlighted ornamental plants such as cut flowers or potted plants. Nowadays, they can be used in the same way. Alternatively, they can be used as stand-alone decorative pieces, adding a touch of style and class to any living space. Oriental decorations were very popular at this time. The use of motifs such as dragons on this planter reflects this taste. This craze for Asian art and culture emerged in Europe at this time, following the opening of trade routes with the Far East and the Paris World's Fair in 1867, which presented many Asian art objects. As here, the oriental motifs were often stylized, adding an interesting visual dimension. By combining these oriental motifs with the finesse of porcelain and the robustness of bronze, this jardinière becomes a unique piece that testifies to the artistic refinement and cultural influence of the Napoleon III era.
