Vintage 1960s white opaline tulip handkerchief or fazzoletto vase, hand made and mouth blown, made by ancher iversen. Large size handkerchief vase in cased glass, a layer of white opalescent glass encased in a layer of transparent glass. The vase has flaring, wavy sides, allowing for a sprawling arrangement of full bouquets of tulips or similar-sized flowers. Ancher iversen is a danish producer of glassware and tableware and was founded in 1953. Copycats bastardize the name often into anker. The danish word ancher means anchor in english. Occasionally you can find early ancher iversen pieces with the red vintage label with a white anchor. This handkerchief vase is an early piece of which the folds of the handkerchief are running downwards to the bottom. Later versions are less complex, less wide, only have some small folds at the top, and therefore look less attractive. The vase is in excellent vintage condition with no damages, no chips, no cracks, and no flea bites. The bottom stand ring is ground flat and smooth. Largest height 20.8 cm. Largest diameter 25 cm. Weight 1765 grams.
