Legras vase (38 cm) in tinted and enamelled glass, with thistle flowers.

François-théodore legras (1839-1916), verreries de saint-denis (france).|important vase with slender body, overflowing base and hemmed collar, in blown glass, tinted bright red in the mass and stretched hot with the tool, the decoration enamelled in polychromy, in shades of light green and purple, of flowering thistles (emblem of the lorraine region, where legras was from). Golden highlights in the composition, and reminder of this botanical motif on the periphery of the collar.|art nouveau period, late nineteenth century.|lack of signature, as usual for enamelled glass parts produced by legras factories. Model however reproduced in the reference work "françois-théodore legras, verrerie artistique et populaire française" (michel m.-f., michel j.-f., vitrat d., vitrat j.; 2012).|mark of the pontil on the reverse of the base, meulated with care. Beautiful glassware work, old.|dimensions: height, 38 cm; diameter at the base, 11.50 cm; diameter at the neck, 07.20 cm.|condition report: very good general condition (no shine or crack or shock, no accident; unaltered enamel, well-preserved colors). There are simply small – but discreet and insignificant – marks of use, attributable to time, among which: small stripes on the reverse of the base, weak and not visible when the vase is placed; golden frieze on the periphery of the neck partially erased; small deposit of dirt in the inner bottom of the vase, to finish cleaning; possible presence of internal air bubbles). Overall though, this vase is in very good condition; these are only marks of the time, very little visible and in no way altering its interest.
