Rest your foot or pray to God

I took it for a footrest but I was told that it was a small prayer table, so it's up to you to see what use you want to make of it. The fun little detail is that it has a drawer, enough to put a pair of reading glasses, a remote control and is perfectly sized for a “pocket collection” book. But this detail would go well with the prie-dieu, a drawer to store a missal, a prayer book. It is made of black lacquered wood, the filling is very thick, therefore rather comfortable for the knees and even more so for the feet. It is covered with thick upholstery fabric, also held in place by golden nails. It must date from the 70s or 80s, the legs and the structure are in solid wood but the cabinet cladding and the drawer are in plywood. It is in good structural condition, still very solid but does not hide its age: small marks and lack of lacquer on the wood and the fabric, a little dated, probably a little stained and worn, even if it is not really visible when seen the rather dark colors and the original appearance of the fabric, sometimes flat and sometimes thicker. The dimensions at the “cushion” level are 32 cm by 22 cm, the dimensions of the wooden base are 26 cm by 18 cm. The height is approximately 23 cm at the level of the padding and 17 cm if we measure just the height of the wooden structure.
