Travel trunk looking for new destination

Because they are all different, because they carry fabulous stories, because they contain sweet secrets, because they have traveled to the ends of the world or to the bottom of an attic, because they are unique... I will never tire of restoring these beautiful travel trunks! Before its restoration, this trunk had some nice assets: its wooden strapping, its buckles in good condition, its ideal dimensions... But you had to plan ahead, since it was completely covered with sealed cardboard, the buckles had oxidized over time and the wood had become damaged in places. 12 hours of work were necessary to bring it back to life 😉 the trunk was stripped of its original covering, the wood and ironwork were cleaned and sanded. Everything has been processed. Repairs (wooden dressings) were necessary on one side of the trunk which had suffered the ravages of time. Once the wood was dry, it appeared that the trunk had been made from 3 types of wood, which was not aesthetically pleasing. So I chose this anthracite gray patina which remains bright and a bronze patina for the ironwork. This trunk is ready to return to service for many years. It remains imperfect, heir to its past and bearer of the marks of time that a restoration can only partially attenuate or repair.
