Vintage handmade scandinavian wooden bowl, 1960s

This beautiful and eye-catching bowl was carved in denmark in the 1960s. It was produced to an extremely high level of craftsmanship and is very evocative of its period. It consists of a heavy piece of yew or redwood timber that has been cut to a slab and carved to a simple bowl pattern with concentric surrounding rings. A beautiful blend of natural materials and precision has produced a very decorative piece in addition to its function. It is polished on the top and 2 sides. The remaining 2 sides have been left in ‘the raw’. Overall, it creates a wonderful blend of scandinavian mid-century design using rustic materials. This item blends easily into a variety of interiors and settings. It also makes an eye-catching feature among both traditional and modern furnishings. The circular bowl is 16cm in diameter.
