Description
Rare pair of cast iron lantern holders from the 18th century bearing the arms of the city of amiens. Windings typical of this period of the age of enlightenment, foliage scrolls. We find the silver oak as well as the fleur-de-lys surmounted by the battlements representing the city of amiens. The fleur-de-lys evoking the old regime, they will be replaced by napoleonic bees from the 19th century (see the last two photos representing the last few gallows still visible in the streets of amiens today). The absence of unicorn heads also allows us to date these lantern gallows before the french revolution. These atypical objects, which have become rare, were nevertheless very common in the 18th century; they will remind you of the atmosphere of oil lighting in a france still governed by the bourbons. Slight missing on one of the two brackets (one of the fork fingers to seal into the wall is missing). Exceptional condition for their age, probably recently repainted to be protected from bad weather. These architectural elements will bring a touch of authenticity to your interior and exterior!.
