Description
<a path with cows> Vittorio bussolino (torino 1853-1922) Oil on board Vittorio bussolino was a landscape painter from turin who lived from 1853-1922. He received his training at the albertina academy in turin under antonio fontanesi. Bussolino became a devoted follower of fontanesi’s style of painting landscapes, which was lyrical and realistic. However, he did not develop his unique style and continued to imitate fontanesi’s work even after his death. Despite this, bussolino’s landscapes showed careful attention to light, color harmony, and an emotional connection with nature. Some influence from the barbizon school can also be seen in his work. Bussolino exhibited his paintings at the turin promoter’s exhibition from 1872 to 1913 and at the circle of artists from 1877 to 1920. While he worked as a municipal employee, bussolino continued to paint as an amateur. He passed away in turin in 1922.
