19th, rare antique catalan dish, spanish ceramic, cirereta series (cherries) Dish from the "de la cirereta" series. Late 18th century, early 19th century. Glazed ceramic. It shows signs of wear. Catalan plate in glazed ceramic. During the 17th century, within the pottery industry, it was very common to manufacture plates, albarelos and wash basins made of cobalt blue or black ceramic on white slip. Within this type of utensils, figurative decorations were used, these in turn divided into different series (typologies) depending on the design of the border: "fig", "sausage", "thimble", "ribbon and palmette", "tulip " and tie". Throughout the 18th century these motifs were maintained, but new ones also appeared, such as "pendant", "lace", "cherry" or "cirereta", like the one we present here. Following the pattern of this type of piece, we find both the edge and the seat of the decorated plate, a reflection of the sensibility of the artisans, of the european and oriental influences and of the successive technical innovations that gave the work of the catalan potters a character only. Date: 18-19th century. Dimensions: d - 20cm/ 7, 8in. H - 4, 5 cm / 1, 7 in. Condition: good antique condition, there chips and signs of aging. (the photos are also part of the description so please take a good look).
