Superb post-impressionist screen with 4 panels in painted canvas. The painting depicts the edges of a canal. We see a fisherman on the right bank, accompanied by his little white dog sitting quietly in the grass. The man observes the 2 boats (a small sailing boat and a boat) sailing on the water. Woods are drawn in the background. The painting is of very good quality, well done and bright. Signature lower left: "ch frechon 1894" for charles frechon. Post-impressionism, france, circa 1894. Charles frechon (1856-1929), nicknamed "the painter of the seasons", was a norman post-impressionist painter of the school of rouen. He painted en plein air and produced many landscapes. He was successful in the 1890s but remained aloof from the parisian artistic milieu. Some of his works will burn in the fire of the family home in 1940 during the german invasion. In very good condition. Size: Height: 152 cm. Width: 164 cm. Depth: 2 cm.
