Description
Period: ca. 1910 this lovely bottle holder was made by wmf in their typical art nouveau style. It features a large frieze composed of fish (possibly salmon) swimming between water plants and flowers. In close-up, one can see that the details are beautifully executed ranging from individual fish scales to the veins of flowers and leaves. The hallmarks on the base of the bracket represent the wmf (diamond in a square) ostrich mark used between 1903 and 1910. The württemberg metalware factory (wmf) was founded in germany in the late 19th century and was renowned for its high quality silver metal products in art nouveau style. Their pieces tend to be sought after. Condition: good. Oxidation inside. Marks of use are possible on an item of this age, but there is no apparent damage. Dimensions: 7.5 cm high, 12 cm diameter at the base, 0.185 kg.
