Yrjo kukkapuro is a finnish designer and interior designer, best known for creating this chair: the karuselli chair. The idea behind this award-winning chair was to create the most comfortable chair using a fiberglass shell. Kukkapuro created the initial shape of the chair by taking a fish trap net, a thin and flexible metal net, placing it on an armchair, sitting on it and pressing it against its sides, back and neck. Designing a foot that didn't interfere with the unusual shape of the seat was a whole different story. After many experiments, the steel bow and fiberglass stand emerged as an obvious solution. The karuselli was first presented to the public at the cologne furniture fair in 1965 and has been sold ever since. This version is a special reissue of artek with a black fiberglass shell. Wear in accordance with age and use.
