Gone with the wind is a 19391 american drama film directed by victor fleming and adapted from margaret mitchell's 19362 novel of the same name. It was released in theaters in 1939 in the united states, and over the next two decades in the rest of the world. Starring clark gable and vivien leigh, the film tells the story of young scarlett o'hara and southerner rhett butler against the backdrop of the civil war. It also stars actors leslie howard and olivia de havilland. Written by screenwriter sidney howard and rewritten in a hurry, notably by ben hecht, the film received eight oscars including best picture and best director. It also allowed actress hattie mcdaniel to be the first african-american performer to receive an oscar for best supporting actress. In very good condition, it will make a perfect decoration.
