Flemish buffet early 19th century

The Flemish Renaissance sideboard from the early 19th century. Abundant symbolism permeates the piece's sculpted embellishment, carved in glorious full relief. The beveled plank top. The entire upper drawer tier conceals a spacious full-width drawer, and is adorned with a mythical creature as a handle. Wavy shapes intertwine and curl around ornate orbs, and are centered on a fierce lion's head in full relief. Below, on the corners, a half-round scepter is seen above petal-shaped flutes, drawing the eye downward with tailored corbels. The two cabinet doors, which open to allow access to the interior, are finely molded and finished with full relief carvings, all raised from the cabinet face with curved molded details forming a photo frame effect.
