Vintage 2-seater sofa design by Børge Mogensen. Very beautiful and elegant. Rare piece Two-seater sofa in solid oak and woolen cloth, model 2252, design by Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) in 1956. Edition Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark in the 1970s. The foams are in perfect condition, as are the textiles. The headrests are adjustable in height using small leather straps, the elastic straps under the seat have been replaced as new. 140 After training as a cabinetmaker at the age of 20 and a few years working as a carpenter, he joined the Copenhagen School of Decorative Arts and Design at the age of 24. At the age of 28 he trained as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, then worked in different studios in Copenhagen. He created his own studio in 1950 and began working closely with the publisher Fredericia in 1955. He won numerous prizes and medals, in 1971 he was awarded the furniture prize in Denmark and elected honorary royal designer of the industry by the royal society of arts, london. Børge Mogensen was one of the most important designers of his generation and helped create the concept of “Danish modern design” known around the world. His production is very important and his very refined, stripped-down style is quickly recognizable. He never stopped imagining new models at all times, some sketches saw the light of day on tablecloths or restaurant napkins, or even on the back of a matchbox during a dinner! With his colleagues Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner, Mogensen brought international recognition to Danish furniture design and his simple and functional designs. Authentic and signed, very good condition, no stains and straps refurbished, very comfortable thanks to the very beautiful curvature of the wooden backrest and the co cushions.
