Description
Pair of round plates in eastern earthenware, les islettes. Nineteenth century period. Central floral decoration and combed edges wine lees. Hollow plates. Diameter 22 cm. Height 3 cm. Very good condition in view of the time. Splinters in borders and hair to report on the reverse, wear on the decor. Clean, fast and neat shipping or hand delivery to paris / reims / amiens / laon. The origins of the islettes earthenware factory seem to date back to 1764, when françois bernard (1739 – 1801) was authorized to establish a factory in the bois d'epense. François bernard knew how to surround himself with good workers. He debauched and attracted painters from major earthenware centers in eastern france: epinal, rambervillers, lunéville, saint-clément the factory was in full activity, it had nearly 200 workers when he died in 1800. The specialty of the faience factory of les islettes is large dishes that were offered as a gift of engagement, wedding, childbirth. This tableware is covered with bright colors, floral décor, lively landscapes, hunting scenes or sheepfolds and chinoiserie.
