Ceramic vase in balustre shape with coloured speckled decoration, h. 36, diam. 17 cm. Assigned to primavera workshops, circa 1930. Created in 1912 at the initiative of rené guilleré, founder of the society of decorative artists to develop modern decorative arts and promote their diffusion, the spring department store art workshop, known as primavera, will produce for nearly sixty years everything that contributes to the development of a house. And especially ceramics, executed in small series by artisan workshops or factories including longwy, quimper, malicorne, sainte-radegonde and designed by decorators and potters named jean besnard, colette guéden, guidette carbonell or madeleine sougez among other signatures. The production, of an assertive modernity, composed of an original bestiary, cracked vases or adorned with bright colors, sometimes drawing from the sources of the far east, cheerful female figures and dishes with geometric motifs, lived its most beautiful hours in the art deco era.
