Description
Large lithograph framed under glass. "the acrobat" engraved by paul girardet after the work of louis knaus and published by goupil et cie in paris on april 1, 1865. Magnificent print featuring an acrobat performing the famous hat trick, this one consisting of removing the headgear from a spectator's head and making doves fly out of it, all in front of a stunned audience. Exceptional in its size as well as its quality of execution and attention to detail. It is sold with its original Napoleon 3 black and gold frame. Note some small accidents on the frame and some wear defects (see photos). Despite everything, it is in very good condition for its age. Louis knaus (ludwig) born October 5, 1829 and died December 7, 1910, German painter and engraver. Goupil et cie was one of the main French art dealers and publishers of the 19th century. Dimensions: frame: 116 cm X 93 cm. Engraving at sight: 90 cm X 66cm. Delivery possible to be agreed.
