Baccarat - cut crystal ewer carafe mounted in solid silver

Beautiful crystal carafe cut by baccarat, the body with full twisted sides alternating with diamond point work. The fully cut applied handle. The solid silver collar partially vermeiled by the master goldsmith jean-baptiste françois, the exterior natural, the interior plated with gold. Hallmarks (on the neck and lid): minerva 1st title, master goldsmith. The carafe appears in the baccarat catalog of 1903, as does the frame. Circa 1900. Condition report: very good condition of the decanter. Scratches from use on the frame. Wear from time to vermeil. Very good state of integrity. If certain great goldsmiths have made it a specialty to mount objects in baccarat crystal, the house also included in its catalog pieces featuring a silver setting.
