Vintage METAL HEART towel ring

This delightful vintage towel ring is made of metal. Round in shape, it is decorated with a pretty hammered metal heart. The napkin ring is a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in the mouth). The towel ring was one of the everyday goldsmith's objects and was a safe haven, transmitted to the protégé. This gift could be accompanied by a cockroach, a spoon or a timpani. The child will keep this present all his life and use it on a daily basis. It measures 5 cm X 5 cm and has scratches of use and traces of oxidation.
