Oil on canvas by pierre gaillardot (1910-2002) representing a port (probably a port of the flowery coast in normandy or the riviera). Original louis xv-style gilded wooden frame. Pierre gaillardot, born in saint-florentin (yonne) on august 2, 1910 and died in saint-savin (gironde) on june 28, 2002, is a french figurative painter from the new school of paris with burgundy origins. He represented mainly vineyards and winemakers as well as horse races and marines for having lived and worked often in deauville or on the cote d'azur.  In 1966, he was awarded the "pierre puvis de chavannes prize, awarded by the committee of the national society of fine arts and the city of paris. His works are in the french public collections, notably those of the museum of modern art of the city of paris. It is in particular this last museum that organizes during the painter's lifetime, in 1971, at the palais de tokyo a retrospective exhibition of the work of pierre gaillardot. High 50 cm and 67 cm without frame. Larg: 66 cm and 83 cm with frame.
