Pair of mg5 cantilever armchairs from the 60s/70s

Very beautiful pair of so-called "cantilever" armchairs attributed to the famous designer matteo grassi under the reference mg5 around 1970. This emblematic seat with its clean line has a chrome-plated metal tubular structure. The backrest, seat and armrest pads are upholstered in lightly grained black leather. It is stitched with saddle stitch, a two-needle sewing technique, very popular because it is very solid. We will highlight the presence under the armchairs of two metal hoops with screw threads allowing, simply and quickly, to adjust and adjust the tension of the leather and therefore the firmness of the seat. Note that the latter seems to be in suspension (cantilever) due to the absence of vertical feet at the rear. This design, in addition to bringing an airy spirit to this seat, also offers the advantage of providing flexibility to adapt to the position of its user. Height at the backrest 80 cm, seat 46.5 cm at the front and 42.5 cm at the rear, width 60 cm, depth 52 cm. With its original curves, this pair of armchairs brilliantly combines comfort and timeless design. In superb condition (we just note 2 small scratches on the chrome of one of the armchairs, see photos) this pair of seats will be ideal in an office or a waiting room to welcome customers.
