Authentic green lady jeanne, used to transport wine. 40cm high. 22cm in diameter. Excellent condition. —- A bit of history. Artisanal canister of the fifteenth century and essential decorative object of the 1970s, the lady-jeanne has been returning for some time in our interiors. Once upon a time there was a queen, jeanne, driven from her kingdom of naples, who came to take refuge in 1347 in her county of provence via draguignan. Surprised by a violent storm, she then took refuge in the castle of a gentleman glassmaker in the hamlet of saint-paul-la-galline-grasse. After spending the night there, the queen wanted to find out how he made the bottles. The glassmaker, somewhat disturbed by his presence, blew into the bit of his cane and made a huge bottle that was admired by all. He decided to start making them and called these bottles "queen jeanne". But the sovereign, modest, suggested to give her simply the name of "lady-jeanne".
