An unusual and striking mid century chromed metal and structured glass table or floor lamp designed in the style of richard essig, in germany, during the 1970s. The glass lamp stand illuminates in two separate sections which are separated by a polished chrome ring. The base is also chrome and a foot operated on/off switch is situated on the flex. The glass is very interesting with frosted glass rings interspersed with mottled clear glass. Very cool indeed. The original red lampshade is held in place by a brass ring which is very unusual as it runs around the bottom of the outside of the shade rather than inside. It's in very good condition considering its age. A single e27 screw in bulb sits inside the shade, and in the glass sections, a single e14 screw in bulb is required, which are accessed by unscrewing the top and lifting the sections upwards. I would recommend led bulbs which last longer, produce less heat and are better for the environment. In good vintage condition. The chrome circular base is very tarnished and aged but isn't really the focal point of this amazing lamp. Can be used as a floor lamp or tall table lamp. Rewired and in full working order. Dimensions: diameter: 22cm; height to the top of the bulb socket: 78cm height to the top of the shade: 130cm.
