Country: Nigeria Year: First half of the twentieth century Item no.: A3954 Description: Authentic hand-carved wooden bowl with Nigeria lid from the Yoruba tribe. The oracle box was used by a Babalao priest or spiritual specialist to store nuts with which to perform a ritual that brought supernatural wisdom (ifa). This beautiful piece of craftsmanship steeped in history is a very beautiful decorative object. The divination bowl appears to be carved from a single piece of wood, with a face carved into the lid. The bowl has a diameter of 50 cm and a height of 23 cm. Condition: there are shrinkage cracks in the hull. This bowl turned out to be authentic and ancient and has associated traces.
