Design binder "olivetti synthesis" by ettore sottsass

Large metal binder or classificator created in 1973 by the italian architect and designer, ettore sottsass for the famous italian brand of office furniture olivetti synthesis. The furniture is composed of 4 drawers with a total of 49 waxes to store the documents and 16 markers of wax "olivetti synthesis". It is sold with its original key marked "olivetti giobert 33". Size: Height: 137 cm. Width: 47, 5 cm. Depth: 69 cm. Very design furniture and still very functional, it is in its juice, with traces, marks of wear and some rusty places (see photos). (september 14, 1917 – december 31, 2007) was an italian architect and designer. In 1958, called by adriano olivetti, he became consultant designer in charge of the electronics division. In this capacity, he participated in the creation of the first italian computer, the elea 9003, for which he received the compasso d'oro prize in 1959. He designed several electric typewriters such as the tekne 3 and the praxis 48 (1964) characterized by their sobriety and steep lines. It was in 1969 that he designed, with perry a. King, the red valentine typewriter considered one of the outstanding creations of twentieth century design. A lightweight and transportable machine in a briefcase, it seduces with its playful aspect inspired by pop art. In 1973, he created synthesis 45, a new office furniture system composed of simple and modular elements. When roberto olivetti succeeded his father, he proposed to sottsass to become artistic director of a new design office allowing him to keep his autonomy while continuing his collaboration with olivetti. He held this position until 1982.".
