Pair of bentwood bistro chairs. In line with the models of gustav siegel and josef hoffmann for kohn at the beginning of the 20th century, then otto prutscher for thonet in the 1920s, with a back of curved wood in an arcade which was dressed according to the designers or manufacturers, with veneer of various decorative shapes - solid, openwork, cut, perforated, etc. Or, for the most well-known commercial standards, bars. This framework made flora from art nouveau to art deco, and depending on other stylistic elements which accompanied it, it gave rise to models qualified in turn as "secessionist", "neo-gothic" and sometimes even “neo-biedermeier”. Here a model with a medallion full of horgen-glaris, as a reminder of the oldest swiss factory of bentwood furniture founded by emil baumann at the end of the 19th century. Moreover, at the same period, at baumann france we found a fairly similar model, n°149, with a trimmed or caned medallion but with english-style feet. The horgen version is totally art deco, rather neo-gothic, in any case very "bistro", with optional reinforcement brackets which confirm at the time the vocation of equipment for professional use rather than for living rooms. Horgen label from the 1920s under the seat. Height 95 cm, seat height 47.5, seat 38 X 41 cm. // delivery throughout france 25 euros.
