See the pictures. ------- - the illustration was created by edouard godard, famous botanical illustrator - the book from which this engraving comes was published by octave doin in paris with the librairie agricole de la maison rustique and the grain merchant of vilmorin andrieux - printed on slightly cream colored cardstock. The back of the sheet is blank. - this beautiful piece is both informative and aesthetic, celebrating the beauty of the plant world - chromolithography is a color lithographic printing process (1837), based on printing color by color. Each color was placed on a lithographic stone and the same document passed from one stone to another with precise markings. This long but aesthetic process was subsequently replaced by offset printing ------- I offer other plates from the same series.
